GPIF's global manager searches signal fresh openings for external private-markets managers

Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund, the world's largest pension pool, currently has active requests for proposals covering global private equity fund-of-funds, global infrastructure, and global core real estate, alongside a build-out of an internal database to evaluate the performance of the private-markets managers it appoints. GPIF director of research and analytics Mari Tanaka said the database, developed with BNY Mellon subsidiary Eagle Investment Systems, is intended to serve as the fund's first point of reference in manager due diligence.
