Saudi Aramco Ventures Leads First Investment in India, Backs Mitti Labs with $9.5M Series A
6 August 2026
Aramco Ventures, Saudi Aramco's venture arm, led a $9.5 million Series A round for Mitti Labs, a New York- and Bengaluru-based climate-tech startup, marking the investment arm's first transaction in India. The round also included returning investor Lightspeed India alongside new backers Godrej Industries Group, Cisco Foundation, Francis Family Fund and Volta Circle, bringing Mitti Labs' total funding to $12.5 million since its 2023 founding.
Mitti Labs runs a GeoAI platform, developed with NASA support, that combines satellite radar imagery and field data to build digital models of individual rice paddies, helping more than 100,000 smallholder farmers across India adopt water-saving irrigation that the company says cuts water use by about 40% and methane emissions by more than half. Aramco Ventures executive managing director Zayed AlAmri said the investment reflects the difficulty of tracking real conditions across millions of small farms, and the new capital will fund expansion into the Philippines and Indonesia in 2026 and 2027.
